Mayo Clinic is a nonprofit organization committed to clinical practice, education, and research. Founded in 1864, it has grown into a global healthcare leader with more than 60,000 medical professionals across the U.S. and a top-ranked hospital.

 

Challenge

 

Mayo Clinic needed to modernize and relaunch two outdated B2C websites: Mayo Clinic Marketplace and Mayo Clinic Health Letter. The existing sites needed a stronger digital commerce foundation, better user experiences, and more scalable operations. Mayo Clinic also needed to make trusted health resources easier to find, purchase, and access.

 

Solution

 

Mayo Clinic partnered with XCentium to redesign and rebuild both sites on Sitecore Experience Platform and Sitecore Commerce Engine. The new foundation supported content management, digital asset management, personalization, analytics, security, and commerce operations.

 

Sitecore Experience Platform gave non-technical users a simpler way to manage content and media. It also supported automated marketing, analytics, and experience optimization so Mayo Clinic could continue improving the user experience over time.

 

Sitecore Commerce Engine supported order management, pricing, and promotions. It also integrated with Mayo Clinic’s backend systems and third-party providers for payment, shipping, tax, and fulfillment.

 

Outcomes

 

The work delivered two redesigned, responsive websites for Mayo Clinic Marketplace and Mayo Clinic Health Letter. Users gained clearer navigation for purchasing books, DVDs, and subscriptions, including the Mayo Clinic Health Letter subscription.

 

The new experience also supported cross-selling through connected content and product offerings. Mayo Clinic gained a scalable platform that could support enterprise needs while fueling existing Mayo sites.
