Electric Motor Shop is a family-owned electrical distributor based in Fresno, California. The company serves industrial customers, including electricians, contractors, engineers, maintenance mechanics, and farmers.

Challenge

Electric Motor Shop had a static website that worked more like a brochure than a sales channel. Customers could not easily browse, search, or place orders online. EMS also needed to manage more than 80,000 products, with about 8,000 available online, while supporting product-specific availability, pricing, shipping, and delivery rules. The new platform also had to connect with P21 ERP to keep inventory, pricing, and order data accurate.

Solution

XCentium built a new e-commerce experience on Optimizely B2B Commerce. The platform gave EMS a more flexible product catalog, with table views for products with many variants and dropdowns for simpler products.

XCentium added advanced search and filtering so customers could narrow results by attributes such as brand, product type, and availability. This helped customers find the right product even when they did not know the exact part number.

The solution included custom checkout, shipping, and delivery logic. Zip code rules controlled local delivery availability, while messages helped customers understand restrictions before they completed an order. XCentium also integrated the site with P21 ERP to support inventory updates, pricing, and order processing with less manual work.

Outcomes

The new e-commerce platform gave EMS a working digital sales channel that better supports customer self-service. Customers can search, compare, and order products online with clearer information about availability and delivery.

The platform also improved operations. ERP integration reduced manual data entry, delivery rules helped limit shipping errors, and credit hold logic gave EMS stronger control over account risk.
